Bands To Check Out:9oz of Nothing - El Yeti

Οι 9oz of Nothing μας έρχονται από την Αθήνα και σχηματίστηκαν αρχές του 2013 από τους Nikos Choulis - (Guitar/Vocals),Fotis Antoniou - (Drums) και Stathis Magklaras - (Bass).
Πρόσφατα  άκουσα το πρώτο τους κομμάτι ονόματι "Green God" που θα συμπεριλαμβάνεται στο επερχόμενο άλμπουμ τους και πραγματικά ικανοποίησε τα heavy rock αισθήματά μου σε μεγάλο βαθμό.Οι επιρροές της μπάντας προέρχονται κυρίως  από τους Black Sabbath,Down,Kyuss,Clutch και Spiritual Beggars.Επομένως συγκρατήστε το όνομα αυτής της μπάντας γιατί σε λίγο καιρό λογικά θα μας ταρακουνήσει ευχάριστα.

Η Ισπανία  προσθέτει μια ακόμα καλή μπάντα στον Stoner Rock μουσικό χάρτη με το όνομα El Yeti.Η μπάντα γεννήθηκε το 2011 και απαρτίζεται από τους Edko Fuzz - gtrs n' vox,X-Wong - bass και Marc Rockenberg - drums n' vox.
Η μουσική του συγκροτήματος είναι επηρεασμένη κυρίως από μπάντες όπως τους Clutch,Corrosion Of Conformity,Fu Manchu,Black Sabbath και Alice In Chains.Τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2012 μας είχαν χαρίσει ένα ντέμο το οποίο περιλάμβανε 4 συνθέσεις συνολικής διάρκειας περίπου 15 λεπτών γεμάτες με ενδιαφέροντα heavy riffs,μπόλικο fuzz και αρκετή μελωδία.

Mighty High and Ripple Music Join Forces to Auction Rare Test Pressing for Charity

 

Cosmic Lava proclaims that the latest Mighty High slice of primal rock mayhem is "angry, funny and a powerful jolt of rebellious energy." Downtuned Mag boasts that Legalize Tre Bags is "an addictive, vulgar, raw, filthy son of a bitch. A thirty-minute bad-ass, pure garage-punk 'n' roll fun ride." And Ringmaster spits out "Legalize Tre Bags is a raucous feast of punk, weed, and middle finger attitude -- most of all it's a deeply satisfying slab of rock n roll."

Now, continuing Ripple Music's tradition of auctioning off it's rare test pressings for charity, Mighty High and Ripple have joined forces to auction the only original test pressings of Mighty High's block-buster new album, Legalize Tre Bags, with all proceeds going to benefit Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center for Cancer Research.

With cancer being a deeply personal issue for both the band and label, they couldn't be happier to support this cause.

Now, this isn't just any old test pressing auction. What's being auctioned is the incredible rare locked-groove version of the album, with a repeating belch at the end of side one that was deleted from the official release. This is the ONLY version that includes the original version of the album. Due to time and financial constraints, this idea had to be abandoned.

But that's not all! Included with the test pressing is the original cover art and a signed poster featuring the mind-bending art of Braino.

This early 70's psychedelic Japanese quartet were more or less the precursors of The FAR EAST FAMILY BAND (see this band's biography), guitarist/vocalist Fumio Miyashita being the only link between the two. Miyashita would later join other musicians on FEFB which included among their ranks Masanori Takahashi, better known as "Kitaro". Under the name FAR OUT, they released one album in 1973.
Although « Nihonjin » is definitely a spacey album, the keyboards are only prominent on the opening notes and the synths are used sparingly throughout, for the occasional sound effect. The psychedelic atmosphere comes mostly from the guitars, electric sitar and drums, resulting in a sound somewhat reminiscent of PINK FLOYD's "A Saucerful of Secrets". The original LP, replete with weird sound effects, consisted of two epic tracks clocking in at 18 and 20 minutes respectively. The 7 bonus tracks of the CD edition are actually taken from The FAR EAST FAMILY BAND's first album "The Cave Down to the Earth" and feature some Japanese vocals that turn out in English on "The Cave" album. These tracks also lack the spacey synths of the latter.
Recommended for fans of early PINK FLOYD, or simply for a taste of the early Japanese psych scene.

Chivo - Cantankerous Rock

Οι Ισπανοί Chivo τρία χρόνια μετά το πολύ δυναμικό ντεμπούτο τους με τίτλο '"Swamp Of Sounds" που μας είχαν χαρίσει κάποια ομολογουμένως πολύ καλά Stoner μουσικά δείγματα με επιρροές από  Kyuss,Hermano,Unida,Soundgarden και Alice In Chains επιστρέφουν φέτος με την δεύτερη επίσημη κυκλοφορία τους ονόματι "Cantakerous Rock".
Η μπάντα εδώ μας παρουσιάζει 10 συνθέσεις συνολικής διάρκειας περίπου 50 λεπτών.  ; όχι μόνο δεν κουράζουν αντιθέτως καταφέρνουν να προσφέρουν κάποια ξεσηκωτικά κομμάτια ντυμένα με δυνατά φωνητικά και φοβερά Stoner Riffs.Το εναρκτήριο κομμάτι("Roof Tv") σε βάζει στο κατάλληλο κλίμα του άλμπουμ και συνεχίζει με το "Drill Of The Horn" που με το κολλητικό εισαγωγικό stoner/doom riff και το Sabbath-ικό του ρυθμό είναι σίγουρο ότι θα το λατρέψετε.
Η δόμηση του άλμπουμ γίνεται ακόμα πιο ισχυρή με το άκουσμα των  "Feed The Show" ,"Eyes Fire Desire" και τέλος έρχεται το εννιαλεπτο "Rockets On Fire" να μας αποτελειώσει με αποτέλεσμα να κλείσει με ιδανικό τρόπο ένα εξαιρετικό άλμπουμ των Chivo από το οποίο δεν βρίσκω κάποιο μεγάλο αρνητικό λόγο για να μην το ακούσετε.

Bands To Check Out:Mountain Dust - Luna Sol

Slow,heavy,μελωδικό μουσικό υλικό μας παρουσιάζουν οι Mountain Dust που προέρχονται από το Montreal και απαρτίζονται από τους Kevin, Brendan, Hal, Blair.
Αρχές Μαρτίου του τρέχοντος έτους η μπάντα μας πρόσφερε ένα ντέμο το οποίο περιέχει 4 συνθέσεις συνολικής διάρκειας περίπου 18 λεπτών.
Το συγκρότημα καταφέρνει με εξαιρετικό τρόπο μέσα από τις συνθέσεις του να μας ξεσηκώνει με το heavy ρυθμό του και ταυτόχρονα να μας ταξιδέυει με τις μαγευτικές του μελωδίες.Επιπροσθέτως έχει γίνει πολύ καλή δουλεία  τόσο στα φωνητικά όσο και στην κιθάρα.

Από το Ντένβερ του Κολοράντο μας έρχονται οι Luna Sol και αποτελούνται από τους Dave Angstrom - Guitar, Vocals,Patrick Devlin - Guitar,Pat Gill - Drums και Taylor Iversen(Black Sleep Of Kali) - Bass.
Η μπάντα σχηματίστηκε αρχές του 2013 και σε σύντομο χρονικό διάστημα μας χάρισε ένα ντέμο με 4 συνθέσεις συνολικής διάρκειας περίπου 21 λεπτών.
Όπως οι ίδιοι δηλώνουν μέσω του Facebook παίζουν ένα αμάλγαμα από High Desert Rock n' Roll και  Psychedelic Southern Rock.Από τις ακροάσεις που έκανα μπορώ να πώ λοτι εδώ έχουμε να κάνουμε με  πολύ ενδιαφέρουσες συνθέσεις με αρκετά καλές ιδέες που αξίζει να ακούσετε!!!

VA – CHILEAN FUZZ

Όσοι ασχολούμαστε με την Fuzz/Psych/Stoner μουσική  έχουμε μέσα στην καρδιά μας την συγκεκριμέμη σκηνή που παράγει η Λατινική Αμερική.Επομένως  μια συλλογή που προέρχεται από 21 μπάντες της αγαπημένης μας Χιλής γεμάτη με fuzz/stoner/punk/garage συνθέσεις είναι σίγουρο ότι θα τροφοδοτήσει με πολύ κέφι και ενέργεια τους λάτρεις των συγκεκριμένων μουσικών ιδιομάτων και το καταφέρνει σε πολύ μεγάλο βαθμό.
Προσωπικά επικροτώ τέτοιες κινήσεις που τόσες πολλές μπάντες μαζί,χωρίς τη στήριξη κάποιας εταιρείας,συνεργάζονται και μας προσφέρουν μια πραγματικά εξαιρετική συλλογή που αξίζει χωρίς δεύτερη σκέψη να την ακούσετε.
